Universal design in field-focused experiential learning

The importance of experiential learning on student growth is well documented in STEM education literature. However, traditional perceptions of academic rigor suggest that students who are physically unable to study outside of the classroom are therefore unable to participate in field-focused learning experiences. This workshop will discuss universally-designed strategies to include students with disabilities in your classroom, laboratory and field activities.

By encouraging students to closely interact with their professors, Vantage engrained in me the value of attending office hours and actively participating in class. Now that I’m about to graduate in a few months, I can confidently say that those two habits helped me maintain a relatively high average. Even when I left Vantage, I have still been able to count on its support and resources until now.
