Progression into Second Year

Progressing To Second Year

After successfully completing the 11-month Vantage One program, students transition into second-year studies of their chosen undergraduate degree. However, progression into second year is dependent on each student’s academic performance in their first year:

  • UBC Vantage College students who pass all courses in the Engineering program with an average of at least 60% will be eligible for year two of the B.A.Sc. degree program.
  • UBC Vantage College students who pass all courses in any Science program with an average of at least 60% will be eligible for year two of the B.Sc. degree program.

Students who do not meet these requirements for transition into the second year will be assessed on a case basis, where there is evidence of academic promise for continued study in their chosen degree program, and may be eligible to progress.

Remember that UBC Vantage College has a team of dedicated academic advisors, instructors and teaching assistants to offer advice, support, and help set students up for success.

If you have received a final progression decision and believe that the decision was made in error, you can appeal the decision by completing this form and submitting it to the UBC Vantage College Academic Director academic.director@vantagecollege.ubc.ca by the date specified in your letter.

Dual Campus Experience

All students complete Term 1 and Term 2 at UBC Vancouver. In Term 3 (May to July), the UBC campus you attend will be determined by your program of study (see below).

Once you finish the Vantage One program and progress into second year, you may complete your degree studies at UBC Vancouver or UBC Okanagan, depending on your field of study and academic results.
