Begin your UBC degree immediately and develop your academic English abilities.

By completing this 11 month program you will complete the first year of your degree, develop your English abilities and enhance your research capabilities. You will have the opportunity to study with brightest students from around the world, all while living in beautiful British Columbia, Canada!

You can study in one of four degree streams

Regardless of the stream you choose,  you’ll study in a close-knit cohort of students from all over the world, all while strengthening your English abilities.

Bachelor of Applied Science (Engineering)

Gain a strong foundation of core knowledge in engineering. Coursework ranges from sustainability and engineering, to matter and energy, and computation in engineering design.

Bachelor of Arts

Build a solid foundation of knowledge in the arts and strengthen your communication skills. Study topics like political science, psychology, geography, research and writing. 

Bachelor of Management

Develop your skills for future roles in managing organizations. Coursework ranges from micro and macroeconomics to corporate responsibility, sociology, and an introduction to Canadian business.

Bachelor of Science

Establish a foundation of knowledge through a core set of science courses that range from chemistry, calculus through to programming. You will have the option of selecting computational and physical science electives.

You’ll build community with the students in your stream, as you learn and study closely with them throughout the year. Small-class sizes will ensure that you will have easy access to your professors. You’ll become more confident participating in academic discussions and writing essays in English.
